The Chained Voices Fine Art Show supports incarcerated residents of the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) by providing them the opportunity to display and sell their original artwork to the public through virtual galleries and in-person exhibitions. Malinalli on the Rockswill provide opportunities for Colorado artists to explore and re-discover one of the most enigmatic historical figures of the Americas: LaMalinche. It derives from a painting called Thistles sold at Untitled Art in Miami in December 2021. Whether exploring animal figures, dynamic cityscapesor lush landscapes, Bruce Marion's lyrical coloration and dramatic use of light and shadow seems to illuminate his subjects from their souls. The ink, no surprise, is blue, honoring the musical format known as the blues, and Moran continues that tribute by showing vintage photos of beloved musicians some that visitors will recognize and others they will learn about. Inculcation explores experimental filmmaking practices that investigate the domestic space, evolving expectations of those who identify as women, and the ways that ideologies are inculcated in our early lives. Building Denver: Visions of the Capital City explores the growth, urban developmentand architecture of Denver from 1860 to today. Montejos style can be referred to as gestural painting, which in Spanish translates to gesto to move or be moved. The pieces are not easily reduced to the stereotypes and simple points of view that dominate the conversation about race in this country. Nature is the overall theme but these seven artists all have their own eye and attitude when it comes to depicting it, ranging from Beau Careys series of paintings capturing different personalities of the moon to Danielle Wingers electrifying paintings of forest fires rendered in blazing red. The building has been fully renovated with expanded gallery space, plus stunning views of the city skyline and Rocky Mountains. First opened in 1971, the building was designed byItalian architect Gio Ponti and Denver-based James Sudler Associates. This exhibitionexplores the interrelationships between human, animaland non-biological soundsand the rich and fragile nature of the acoustic fabric around us. She was not known as Unsinkable during her lifetime, but instead as the Heroine of the Titanic.Learn about the tragedy through Margarets many Titanic interviews including her first one, given when she was still on board the rescue ship.
